Though families no longer tour the real Binney
and Smith Factory (the waiting list was two years long!), the
new Crayola Factory exhibit is lots of fun for everyone.
With tons of hands-on art activities, animation
stations and a manufacturing theater, the Crayola Factory tour
has played host to nearly 3 million people since it began in
1996.
Special events happen nearly every day such as
storytelling, poetry contests, and crossword puzzle day. |
There are also a number of
family workshops and special monthly events like December's
Gingerbread festival.
Located next door to the Crayola Factory is the National Canal
Museum where children can learn about the role the canal system
played in early history and industry.
This is a
Smithsonian-affiliated museum and the hands-on exhibits are a
favorite with children. During the spring and summer months,
visitors can travel to nearby Hugh Moore park and ride a mule-drawn
replica canal boat.
Use Philadelphia Kids and make Philadelphia fun for the kids...and you!
