Byer's Choice in the Philadelphia area started as a hobby for a Pennsylvania woman who was disappointed at the Christmas decorations found in local stores soon turned into a profitable business for the Byer family.

Today, Byer's Carolers and Kindles can be found in stores nationwide, a far cry from the few that Joyce Byer marketed from her dining room table in the 1960s.

Collectors of Byer's wonderful Christmas carolers will enjoy a tour of the factory where the handmade items are produced.

Located in suburban Chalfont, Pennsylvania, the Byer family and their staff of 180 artisans eagerly welcome visitors to the shop.

At the factory and visitor center, guests can stroll through rooms of Christmas displays, reminiscent of Dickens' London, festooned with Byer's unique Carolers and Kindles, who are made to look as if they are always singing. From the observation gallery, visitors can also watch skilled artisans craft their favorite Byer's holiday decoration.

The Emporium Gift Shop offers the largest collection of Byer's Choice ornaments found anywhere and even a few that can not be found at any other retail outlet. There's also a pleasant garden where visitors can stroll year round.
