The Kimmel Center in Philadelphia has the mission of providing a new state-of-the-art concert and performance venue for Philadelphia's many arts organizations. The Kimmel Center was completed in 2001 and occupies an entire city block.

The Kimmel Center also represented the realization of the Philadelphia Orchestra's wish for a new venue to replace the one they occupied for more than 100 years. The Kimmel Center seats over 2500 concert-goers in their main hall, Verizon Hall, and another 650 in the more intimate Perelman Theater.

Structurally, the building is exquisite, boasting a 150-foot tall glass roof. Besides taking advantage of concerts by the orchestra or one of Philly's fine performing arts group such as PHILADANCO, the Philly Pops, American Theater Arts for Youth, and the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, visitors can enjoy a behind-the-scene tour of the Kimmel Center and hear more about the story behind the building of this magnificent facility. There's also the perfect gift shop for music-lovers and as well as the Cadence Restaurant and the PECO cafe, all located inside the Kimmel Center.
