Location: Route 63 West
Philadelphia Folk Festival is one of the oldest active folk festivals, a three-day extravaganza that combines contemporary and traditional folk music, dance, crafts, camping and kids’ activities. Dozens of musical performers appear throughout the event, including Jackson Browne, Dog on Fleas, Hot Tuna, Caryn Lin and David Jacobs to name just a very few. You’ll hear bagpipes, harps, guitar blues, jazz and zydeco among the other grooving sounds of the festival.
Kids will love the puppeteers and the crafts where you can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities. Storytelling is an integral part of the event, as is dancing of various types. Travel from music stage to dance stage to the kid’s area and back again to get the full complement of fun that this unique venue has to offer. Make a sun catcher or a mask or something else entirely.
Just know that there will be plenty to hear, see and do during this good old-fashioned great time just waiting to be experienced.
